Supported Barcode Symbologies

A barcode is an optical, machine-readable representation of data relating to the object to which it is attached. Different symbologies serve different sectors, regulations, and systems.

Code 128

A high-density barcode symbology capable of encoding all 128 characters of ASCII. Widely used for shipping labels, inventory control, warehouse tracking, and asset management because of its dense structure and robust security.

EAN-13

The European Article Number (now International Article Number) is a 13-digit retail barcode used globally. It has a specific 12-digit layout followed by a 13th modulo-10 checksum digit. Must consist only of numbers.

UPC-A

Universal Product Code is the standard retail barcode symbology used extensively in the United States and Canada. It encodes 12 digits consisting of numbers. It is mathematically a subset of EAN-13 (adding a leading 0 translates UPC-A directly to EAN-13).

How to create a barcode online

Choose the barcode type

Use Code 128 for flexible text and inventory labels, EAN-13 for 13 digit barcode checks, and UPC-A for 12 digit retail-style barcodes.

Enter clean barcode data

Keep product numbers, SKUs, asset IDs, or test values free of hidden spaces so the generated barcode can be scanned reliably.

Download and scan test

Download the PNG or SVG barcode, then scan the result on the devices your users, warehouse team, or customers will actually use.
